| Description | |
| Abstract | Experimental studies of electromagnetic wave scattering at sea surface in the presence of a film covering it are performed. Systematic modifications in the character of radar signal intensity modulation and variability of the signal Doppler shift as an effect of long surface waves in the polluted region are registered. Oil pollution radar pattern behavior versus wave parameters, wind speed and direction and the state of the near-surface layer of atmosphere is examined. Optimal conditions for radar observations of sea surface pollution are determined. Radar signal intensity variability for films of different substances and oil types is estimated. Spreading properties of foreign substances over sea surface are analyzed. Experimental dependencies of scattered signal intensity on the thickness of sea surface film are obtained. |
