| Abstract | A Complex Hydrometeorological and Ecological Atlas of the Caspian Sea was prepared by Geographical Society of the Azerbaijan.
He existing publications mainly deals with special problems of the Caspian sea and they are not always available for all experts engage in the development of the natural resources in this basin. The last Atlas as dedicated only to the wind and to the rough waters of the Caspian sea. It was published in 1963. During this period of time especially in 1965-2000 a rich information was gathered.
The Atlas was prepared by us will demonstrate a complex hydrometeorologic information (direction and velocity of the current, temperature of the water and air, salinity, transparency and color of the water, ice setting, height, length and period of waves, velocity and direction of the wind, evaporation, humidity, transparency and turbidity of atmosphere, radiation, water and heat exchange between different parts of the sea; maps of geomorphology, radients of the sea floor, main morphostructures etc). These data were collected within a long-term period from 1945 to 1995. This provides statistical stability of the information. To regulate the order of its submission and to facilitate its application the information will be extrapolated in 74 squares which cover the whole territory of the Caspian Sea. The maps-schemes will be constructed by leading experts engaged in the appropriate fields. The Atlas also will contain a digital information.
