Description
Abstract	The Marine Strategy Framework Directive 2008/56/CE of June 17th, 2008 (DCSMM) establishes a framework of Community action in the field of the policy for marine environment. It was published on June 25th, 2008. It constitutes the environmental pillar of the integrated maritime policy of the European Union. This legislative framework must reinforce coherence between the various policies and support the integration of the environmental concerns in other policies such as the common fisheries policy (PCP). The environmental objectives defined within the framework of the DCSMM will have to be taken into account in these policies.
