| Abstract | The program for monitoring the quality of seawater at public beaches is conducted annually from May to October every 15 days along the Montenegrin coast. The frequency and number of samples, which typically exceeds 100 per season, are based on the geographical coverage of coastal municipalities. The primary objective of the project is to assess the sanitary quality of seawater based on two key microbiological indicators: Escherichia coli (E. coli) and intestinal enterococci. In addition to microbiological testing, the program also involves the regular monitoring and analysis of several physico-chemical parameters that impact the overall water quality and ecosystem health. These parameters include seawater temperature, salinity, pH levels, and oxygen saturation in the water. These factors not only affect the marine environment but also play a significant role in determining whether the water meets health and safety standards for public recreational use, particularly swimming.
