| Abstract | The project will develop an Integrated Assessment and effect-based Monitoring Framework (IAF) to assess the impacts of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) on the marine environment, supporting EU policies such as the MSFD and WFD. It will combine field monitoring and lab experiments to study CEC effects on marine biodiversity. Using in silico, in vitro, and in vivo bioassays alongside omics, the project will identify key toxicity mechanisms and recommend suitable biological effect tools for the IAF. Results will inform guidance documents and policy briefs on best practices. The influence of climate change on CEC distribution, fate, and toxicity will also be evaluated. |
