Description
Abstract	This project intends to assess the carbon assimilation capacity of the Northern Adriatic, in order to lay down acceptable limits to its eutrophication. This is to be accomplished by: - establishing a coherent, high-quality information base, comprising a 30-month observation program, selected process studies, historical data review and quantitative modeling; - determining the mass, nutrient and carbon budgets from this information base; - evaluating the observed trends and explaining the consequences of the system/s incapacity to assimilate carbon.
