| Abstract | ASCOP program (1979-84, 1989-91) was established in the framework of Joint Italian/Yugoslav Multidisciplinary Program for the Protection of the Adriatic Sea and Coastal Regions from Pollution. ASCOP is a multidisciplinary program including three main subprograms, i.e. monitoring and phenomenological description, data bank and modelling. Nine seasonal cruises were carried out in the Adriatic in the period from 1979 to 1984 (Phase 1) and from 1989 to 1991 (Phase 2). 2 cruises (spring 1990 and later winter 1991) were concerned with the special Dynamic Experiment in the Northern Adriatic Sea (NADEX).The synoptic shipboard measurements included more than 350 CTD profiles, about 12 months of eulerian current meter records, about 10.000 data of basic physical, chemical and biological parameters, pollutant determinations and sediment stations. |
