| Abstract | Operational Environmental Monitoring projects aim to observe and study the main marine processes of the coastal and open-sea areas in their wide spectrum of space and time scales, with long-term routine measurements.The PALME project focuses in this first stage on the implementation of a marine environmental monitoring system integrated with the hydrological regional network. It is founded by the Civil Protection Center in Palmanova (Udine), Italy.The monitoring experimental activity is based on two meteo-oceanographic multi-parametric MAMBO buoys, three Datawell Directional Waveriders (DWRG) and two NORTEK acoustic profilers moored on the mouth of Tagliamento and Isonzo rivers.
