| Description | |
| Abstract | This Programme aims to develop the leading-edge modelling-system required to meet the demands of total system science in the coastal and shelf environment.
* Advanced numerical model development: the Laboratory is developing and extending the capabilities and flexibility of its Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory Modelling System (POLCOMS), including spatial resolution, domain coverage, improved relocatability and an expanded range of process modules.
* Total system science: integrating modelling and measurement from a Coastal Observatory into a pre-operational coastal ocean prediction system. This research is designed to prove the concept of a coastal observatory in UK waters. Such an observatory could, through effective continuous measurement and modelling, help us understand a coastal sea's response to natural and anthropogenic forcing. |
