| Abstract | The National Programme of Coastal Ecology (PNEC) follows the reorganization of the old research programs : PNOC (national program of coastal oceanography), PNEAT (national program on the toxic seaweed), PNDR (national program on the determinism of recruitment) and the PNRCO (national research programme on the coral reefs) gathered now within the PNEC.
It represents a contribution to the International Program Géosphère Biosphère - World Research Program on Climate (PIGB-PMRC). It contains several regional building sites (Gulf of Lion, Bay of the Seine, Bay of Biscay, Guyana), and also:
- observatories SOMLIT
- the functionning of the lagoons: their comprehension must allow, by a better management, to find or maintain their balance. It is carried out in co-operation interogranisms: IFREMER, CNRS/INSU, Universities of Lille and Caen, Intechmer... This programme includes several regional building sites, as the Bay of the Seine.
The project "Bay of Seine" aims at:
1) Measuring and modeling the effects of the enrichment of bay of the Seine on the biomass and the relative importance of the large compartments of the trophic pelagic and benthic networks;
2)Measure and modeling the consequences of this local intensification of matter flows (in particular between pelagos and benthos) on the evolution of certain contaminants brought by the Seine (cadmium and PCB especially) and on a possible bio-accumulation in the trophic network.
