| Abstract | The Program Operational Deep-sea Systems (SOPHA) gathers the activities of research and development of Ifremer contributing to the ocean observation systems, on global, regional and coastal scales. More specifically, it includes the projects referring to space and in situ data, their collection, their validation, their diffusion, and their archiving; and also to the development of elaborate products. This work aims to contribute to the development of methods and systems necessary to the installation of operational services in France and Europe. These services concern several classes of users: political leaders, scientific community, education, national agencies, Defense, local authorities, industrial sector and service companies, transport and maritime safety, expert, public. These systems will contribute to operations GMES and GEOSS.
Contribution to the study of the marine circulation and ecosystems, mechanisms, evolution and prevision by operational systems. This program includes contributions in several large national and international projects: CORIOLIS, EU-MERSEA, GYROSCOPE, MFSTEP, Global Subsurface Data Centre of temperature and salinty (GSDC) developed for TOGA, WOCE, GTSPP, GOSUD and CLIVAR.
